OGAWA Hirotaka, Ph.D. is a researcher who has been exploring computer science, particularly AI/HPC technologies, cloud computing, grid computing, parallel distributed computing, efficient compiler/database implementations, etc., for over twenty years.

As a senior/principal research manager at National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), he has led a number of projects including AI Bridging Cloud Infrastructure (ABCI) funded by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and next-generation AI/Robotics core technology development funded by New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).

In recent years, he has been involved in various national initiatives as a senior government officer at METI, particularly launching a variety of R&D projects for advanced computing technologies and a development project for advanced computing infrastructures. The R&D projects he has launched include generative AI development project named “GENIAC”, ultra-distributed computing technology, hybrid cloud utilization platform technology, quantum-supercomputer collaboration platform technology, ultra-power-saving and high-density AI computing platform technology, and software technology for optoelectronic convergence systems, etc.

From April 2024, he headed to the next stage. He is now serving as Producer at AIST Solutions Co. His mission is to plan, formulate, and realize business concepts regarding advanced digital platforms.
